Well, this is day one of a new contract. I find myself taking over a number of projects (I'm not yet entirely sure how many) following the untimely departure of the previous post holder. I found out last night and started this morning.

The company I have joined is in the process of shifting towards (if not to) a lean and AGILE environment. I haven't experienced Agile before, and it's been some time since I was involved in software projects. On the upside - most of the staff have recently undertaken a two day introduction to AGILE, so it should all sound fairly familiar to them by the time I start speaking the language.

I'm hoping I'll learn a lot from the process - words of advice and encouragement will be welcomed.

I think you'll be fine. Don't get too hung up on the vocab of Agile, and just focus on how you can deliver value.

thank you Elizabeth - i've been slowly sifting through the documentation and got an email today to say that the overall programme monthly reports are due tomorrow...so just had a really successful meeting with the 5 people concerned and it's a very positive start.

Your situation is ideal as many of your team mates will also be enthusiastic to support you in the new methodology. This support will be vital as Agile usually relies on stakeholder/delivery team commitment and cooperation. It is highly probable that the project team will be willing to learn the new concept along with you making the journey less stressful. Best luck Russell.
