What are the most frequent issues you face in your projects?
Anonymous
I am curious to know whether we get to have the same issues or if it changes.
Could you identify one or more issues you encounter the most often on most of your projects?
Could you also please specify if it is generic for projects or is related to a specific industry?
For me, no matter the industry I have worked in, the most recurrent issue is office politics that almost every time gets in the way of actually doing a good job. And it affects not only projects in a company. Saving Changes...
Is office politics an issue or the inability to be able to successfully deliver a project because of negative office politics the issue? If we want to focus on causes of project issues, the common ones include (not prioritized):
- ineffective communications
- poor stakeholder engagement
- poor requirements or scope management
- weak leadership
- ineffective risk management
- too much or too little planning
- making/taking commitments too soon
- making decisions too soon
- unpredictable people availability

I could state some items as follows. - In some company, boss (sponsors) dominate others. So that, the statement of business pain did not thoroughly consider (please the boss). It leads to poor setup of project objectives and scope due to his perception. - Mega project last longer 6 months is impacted by several business condition. It caused to scope creep whenever the business altered. This stage is barely taken care due to boss-dominant effect and project manager might be a "follower". - People (stakeholders) involve in project sometime cannot commit to the project due to their individual objectives not align with project objectives. If PM did not revisit this alignment, project will get delay. Saving Changes...
