The passing rate for the PMP Exam has not ever been published to my knowledge. Those reports are speculative. If you are yet to take the exam, don't be discouraged and just keep working on it intentionally. You will succeed. Saving Changes...
I think we need to differentiate the anecdotal pass rate of those who didn't prepare adequately from those who did. The former might be quite high, but given the general awareness of how difficult the exam is, I'd say most folks fall into the latter category, and the failure rates are no where near 50% for those.
