How to scale up the PMO?

I work for a financial institution that has implemented a PMO (very early stages). We have our governance set up, however, we are quickly growing and I'm looking for advice or feedback to consider when determining how to scale up the PMO. I'm familiar with organizing planned projects, but needs some help when reviewing project requests that come in outside of major projects that are planned well in advance, and how to structure the review of those requests as they come in. Also, any advice on when you know its time to hire more PM's and / or a system admin to manage the PMIS? Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Angeline, this is my wheelhouse as I am currently managing my 10th PMO and I have been scaling them up for years now. It sounds like you have Governance in place, now it seems like you need an intake/idea process that allows you to evaluate your projects coming in, score them, and then of course drive your priority list and resource assignments based on those scores. Happy to take offline if you want for a much deeper conversation.

Wonderful! I would love to have a conversation with you! We do have governance in place and the request and prioritization processes are in place. I'm struggling a bit with scheduling everything, I think we need at least another PM but need to justify with numbers, and I want to see what steps we may need to take to ensure our current processes are scalable. Our organization is really buying into the PMO and the value it brings so the request for our support is exploding right now and the pipeline is not getting smaller. I would appreciate any feedback you can share from your experiences. Thank you!
