I last took the test Dec of last year and did not pass. I plan to retake the test in September of this year to allow me the necessary time to prepare and study. I currently have the PMBOK 6th edition and it is my understanding that there is now a new edition. Question is do I have to purchase and study from the newer edition or will my continuing to study edition 6 suffice? Any advice is welcomed

The new edition will be released in August and I doubt the exam will change to reflect the new edition a month after. PMI usually gives enough notice before changing the exam so I believe you should be good with the 6th edition if you do the exam in September.

Nikeva,

PMI is basing the exam on the exam content outline. The PMBoK is a primary resource to write exam questions but not the blueprint for the exam.

Like Rami I assume that the PMBoK ed7 will be used for writing exam questions after August and they might show up in the exam gradually over the rest of the year.

There are some support offerings on the market for people like you who learned for the old exam to make up for the difference.

I recommend you to stay actualized using Rita Mulcahy's certification prep, it's a good option to acquire PM Knowledge at your own pace, and is updated to the 2021 exam. Visit this link:

I agree with Rami. However, you can contact PMI for more information.
