I am aware that WPS includes Design Thinking, but I would like to have your opinions about this question. Both have different approaches, but I am trying to figure out what makes WPS a better tool.

Thank you in advance.

In this field there are not "better" tools. Some things are old things, like Design Thinking or Wicked Problem Resolution, but from some years ago becomes buzzwords. The same with Agile. Design Thinking can be used as a tool in Wicked Problem Solve. In fact, Design Thinking is not intended to solve a problem. It is intended to design a solution. Wicked Problem Resolution is on top of that because it proposed different strategies to start to understand if it is a problem or not. Gauss and Weinberg worked a lot with this type of things with focus on define or search for requirements mainly with inherent ambiguity inside them. So, nothing new below the sun. I do not want to offend to somebody, but my recommendation is not read what some people posted about this items inside the PMI because, when you go to the basement, you will find inconsistencies in some of the post. Go to the basement in things like Design Thinking (with started near 1960 what was formalized with this name near 80s) or Wicked Problem Solving (which started near 1950 and was formalized with this name near 2000), things that people like me that work in systems and software systems solutions have applied from long time ago. In the field of Systems Theory applied to organization you will find specific word of the topic in Rusell Ackoff or Mario Bunge works for example.

You are welcome. My intention is, in those topics where I have academic and practical experience, just redirect people to the basement in order to evolve the ideas from that.

100% agree with Sergio. This is probably my biggest pet peeve - how people just coin new buzzwords for things that have been in existence for many many years and all of a sudden we have something "new" and amazing
