Mechanical Maintanance 14year exp.

Hello evey one,
I am having 4 in project and 10years in Mechaincal Maintanance in iron making industry. Planning to do PMP. After completion PMP, Will it help me in my career growth.

Hi Ramesh, Not only with PMP but any certification is a reflection and proof of the knowledge you gained. Personally I think doing a certification will help in your career growth mainly giving you an edge in terms of making you stand apart from those who do not have a certification. Other aspect is the implementation of knowledge gained in your job. Your approach to the way you deal with the things day in day out will change giving you better opportunities and prospects of growth. Irrespective of certification or not, if the knowledge gained is not put to use then it would be of no help. I would suggest to evaluate thoroughly on your intent of doing PMP and then pursue it. It will help broaden your opportunities. PM covers virtually all technical domains, so it can open up job opportunities different than your current expertise, or help you move up into a role where your area of responsibility is broader than your current area of focus. I know from personal experience that it has allowed me to get my resume past the HR screeners and to the hiring managers.
