Is there any group to discuss about team issues & real case studies?
Bui YenBusiness Development Manager| VNG CorporationHn, Viet Nam
Hi everyone,
I am newly promoted as PM of the multiple teams containing around 50 people from more than 10 countries. I really want to hear more about case studies in which you resolve team issues, by that we can learn from each other.
If you have the team like that, can I join with you? Of if not, is anyone interested if we create a group like that?
Thanks All! Saving Changes...

Bui Yen,
I do not know if such a group exists - somewhere, e.g. here, on LinkedIn or other social media. It certainly would be a good idea to exchange about multicultural teams.
Many PMs, myself included, worked with remote teams and in multicultural environments. Being a German, I had to deal with European cultures like UK, France, Spain, Poland and Russia, and also with wider groups from India (had a team of 100+ people in Pune), Japan and US.
I also look at industries thru a culture lens, retail, banking, government have different cultures too.
What helped me over the years was learning about cultures, e.g. from Hofstede or Trompenaars, trying to get better in my emotional intelligence (self-control and empathy) and overall understanding that project management is about humans first. Leadership means influencing in the end.
Another area of learning is team building, which means influencing a group of people to perform better and better. I like David Logan's tribal leadership stages. And there is a plethora of books, courses and techniques about this.
Specific support such as this rarely is available in open communities as there may not be sufficient privacy to provide full details of the context of an issue. You may be better of looking at establishing a community of PM practice within your company (assuming there are many other PMs) and meet regularly to share learnings.
Hello Bui,
what I find useful is learn about cultural topics and have lots of empathy; if your team is remote also, virtual leadership skills will add lots of value. Saving Changes...

Bui,
That is a very interesting topic for myself as well, recently I had to manage a project of a consortium (8 different companies from 5 different countries) and it is indeed hard to find any insights in such topics in the open communities.
I also thought of writing a case study/article on the topic and now I have a new motivation to do it.
I am also thinking that something private like closed Linkedin Group or slack workspace could be useful. Another idea is a mastermind group (which requires very few people) could serve the need. Saving Changes...
