A friend made the comment that my background might be good as a Product Manager in a startup. Someone who can talk geek and suit equally well. I come from geek land, am learning PMspeak, and have worked large enterprises for years.
So the questions that come to mind are: Is there a problem with doing Product Management as a path to grow in Project Management? How would you define a Product Manager, what skills would they most need, and how would you differentiate a Product Manger from a Project Manager? Saving Changes...

Leam, I think there are many paths to become a PM, and I don't think that a background in product management is a disadvantage at all. In fact, many skills are transferable. I understand product management as the role of someone who looks after a product through its lifecycle. Project management also works on a lifecycle basis.
Good luck with your journey towards becoming a PM. Saving Changes...
