Does anyone have any Risk Burndown templates? I use a Risk Register but would like to create a dashboard which shows how we plan to burn down risk. Thanks. Saving Changes...
A risk burndown is just a chart. The harder question is how will you quantify the materiality of a risk at a point in time? EMV is one option but there may be others. Once you have the info for each risk, it is just a matter of creating an XY chart based on a risk register where than info is stored. When a risk is closed, you can reduce its score to 0.
Assuming that you are looking to visualize relative effort over time, if your risk register is an open list that can still be added to, you might consider a burn-up, instead. It makes it easier to distinguish between new work being added and variations in the burn-rate.
Kiron is right, in that you'll need a way to quantify, or size, the work to resolve the risk, but there isn't a direct correlation between materiality and effort. A bubble chart might be a better visual for materiality. If you can give the effort to resolve each risk a relative size (XS,S,M,L,XL...) you can convert the size to a numeric value for burn up/down purposes. Again, this is assuming you want to visualize burn-rate of relative effort over time. Saving Changes...
