My membership expires today and I received an email form PMI in this light. I feel disenfranchise because of PMI not meeting their engagement of mailing the hard copy of my certificates. So my temporal non-membership status may mean that I will miss this great PM.com family for a while. Is there anyone like me battling with whether to renew membership or not? Saving Changes...
A hard copy certificate is nice, but given that you can go download a PDF copy and get it printed on the best quality stock you want, this is a minor annoyance.
If you think of all the resources which are freely available to use as a PMI member (including this community), I'd suggest it does pay for itself...

I totally agree with Kiron. PMI membership provides lots of value to members in many ways.
The whole world is shifting to online and paperless as it is more green and eco-friendly. I don’t know of many organization who still send hard copies of the certificates to their members.
On a last note, even if you’re not a PMI paid member, you are still entitled to receive a certificate as far as I know (when and if PMI resumes this practice) and you also can still use pm.com but not all resources like webinars will be free at that point,

I have been frustrated a few times in the past with the renewal for my membership due to technical issues with the automated process. After debating whether I should just renew when my PMP certification is nearing renewal, I decided I am getting enough value from the membership, despite the technical issues with the site. I do like having the certificate framed on my wall, but in a practical sense it is nothing more than a trophy. I don't include a photo of my trophy wall when I submit a resume. Saving Changes...
