I've noticed that all posts on this community forum can be viewed even without having to be logged in. Not only that but if I search my own name on google I can find these posts easily. I think this can be detrimental for many people who are asking for career advice or in any way looking to communicate with this community without having the whole world read their messages. I understand we have the option to post anonymously however this shouldn't always have to be used just to exclude someone from showing up to every nosy person's search results.
Have there been any ideas to move this into a more private site or is the intention to make it stay completely open like it is currently? I can't be the only one bothered by this (and if I am sorry for the rant)! Saving Changes...

I personally don't see a problem with that as any communication that will happen with be on a professional level but I understand that everyone has their own point of view on this and it is something to think about for sure.
For the articles, you need to log in to see them, that I know, but posts and discussion, no and this is something PMI might address when they move to the new platform (Not sure when exactly).

I have many concerns about privacy on the internet in general. Most future employers will google people they interview. The same goes for potential clients or partners. I do not think any professional network should be so easy to access without even needing an account to do so, however this is the current reality and I might be alone in this way of thinking. I just feel finding the right advice and providing your own feedback comes with being vulnerable and you cannot do that when you are publishing it to the whole world.
When you use any professional community such as this or LinkedIn, you are going to be sharing information which is likely searchable using common web indexing tools. For confidential information or that which you would consider sensitive, you might consider using the community to connect with a small group of professionals whom you trust that you can communicate with using private messages rather than open discussion threads.

Understood, however I wouldn't compare a very narrow professional community forum and LinkedIn which is a social media platform. Professional forums of most types are closed to the general public. However if this is the direction that is the main choice I understand and will manage my expectations accordingly and act like on any other public forum which is very limited.
It's not bad behavior to participate in forums and discussions with your inquiries, because these conversations are developed between professionals and contribute to enhancing your knowledge. Saving Changes...

You certainly have a point in what you say - I myself am paranoid when it comes to internet and privacy but unfortunately these days, with the rapidly evolving world and the virtual reality (The new norm), there is little we can do to avoid such exposure as the one you described so if the issue is critical, then the only solution is to reach to trusted members of the community privately via messages and this way the conversation will remain private.

@Tamara. I do not agree with your post, not matter I am "anti Matrix" and the Internet is "The Matrix". But, your concern is respectable then in my understanding the best way to put it in the right hands is sending a message to the PMI, No matter that I know the PMI is monitoring the posts so it could be into their hands right now.

I understand. I assumed this would be the best place to post. Again, many might not have the same concerns, I just feel with some other networks I've been in, including for example my Women in Business one, most conversations are confidential or at least have restricted access to logged in members only. Many will not make the effort to create an account just to spy on others so it prevents the sharing of personal information around. I am always vary of how our personal information is shared with the world and ways people can find and monitor us. Not from any kind of conspiracy point of view, just from knowing within the tech industry, how this can have adverse affects. 80% of any RFP these days is about privacy and security, not that it is my forte haha

Personally, I see it as information privacy and should be part of a basic data protection. This is an example how EU and US are differently defining data protection. Saving Changes...
