Seeking urgent help regarding Partial hours reporting
Anonymous
Hi, Sorry if this may appear a very naïve question ,but I tried to determine a clear answer for this ,without luck till now .
Now as an IT professional I did work and led many projects ,most of them were quite lengthy too. However, in many cases I did not dedicate more than 65-70% of my time to projects while the other 30-35 % is dedicated to operational or purely technical work outside projects .
So say for example I worked on a project between Feb 2019 and Feb 2020...so I will write that in my PMP application as start and end dates ...yet only 70 % of this time was dedicated to such project ...so how would I capture this very specific breakdown of my contribution is the application format that is only concerned about the formal "Start and End" date of this associated project ?
Again sorry if this is a naïve or repeated question, but I was not able to find a clear answer for this specific case till now ;hence your support are highly appreciated
As far as I remember for the PMP application, you'll need to report the hours - not just the dates. For your example if you spent 52 weeks on a project phase, you would report
52 weeks * 40 hours per week * 70% = 1,456 hours
But also I believe you'll have to distribute those hours across the appropriate project phases.

Thanks for your reply Bob,
Well on the current application you have only Start and End dates for any given project.
I got many projects to report that will be fulling the exact # of hours needed and more...yet after placing the most recent 3 projects -and because they were lengthy ones- the 36 months is checked green/achieved -as its only based on placed Start & End dates of the projects -,hence not giving me any chance to add more projects to the experience .

Yeah ,but the only issue is this get audited, they will ask for a proof for the associated full experience ,although its was just partial ...yet how they did layout the experience input wont give a chance to elaborate that .Furthermore, it will not give you to add up more projects that will clarify your entire experience and enable the real-life mapping of the required associated hours

Unfortunately the new application has reduced the volume of detail you can provide but they still have the restriction for it being non-overlapping experience.
As such, I'd suggest reporting the project you focused on the most at a given time as the one you submit.

That's exactly what I did ...however again my problem is that those are lengthy projects ...so my 36 months are totally achieved by the first 3 projects ...however there is neither a place to capture that its actually 70% of this 36 months associated hours ,nor can I add more projects that will make up these 30% difference and even more. On the other hand, if audited ,it will appear as if I did not provide the correct information on the associated # of hours
