What is the significance of 'project sponsorship' to organizations and/or their contributions to project success rates and strategies?

PMI has published a few research articles on this over the past couple of decades. Effective sponsorship is a key ingredient to successful projects, especially in larger or more complex contexts.

Interesting read! It reminds me of a book on military leadership I recently read. It was also very much competency-based.
