Hi,I have seen that PMbok 7 is already available. Would someone know if the exam is currently (2021) based on PMBOK 6 or 7? or when this might change? Sorry to be repetitive, but I have not found a definitely answer yet. Thank you.

There is no material "cutover" expected with the new edition. The Sixth Edition continues to be one of the ten references provided by PMI for study purposes. Over time, there may be some questions added to the overall exam item pool which are based on Seventh Edition content, but it will happen gradually.

It does make sense now, there is more to learn and instead of setting limits on the material these may be broader.
Thank you so much.

I agree with Kiron. PMI are currently taking a more Agile approach and at some point, if not already, both versions of the PMBOK will be relevant for the exam.

I see now that there are more things to consider when taking the PMP exam. I was asked this question and did not know how to answer. My thinking was like, there is a new PMBOK this should only be it, but in the end, it makes sense to adopt the new approaches the methodology provides. Thank you, I will pass this along.

One misconception to avoid is that the PMBOK is a methodology. Think of it as a principle-based toolkit with guidance to help you create a methodology (if that is what an organization desires) or better yet a tailored approach to fit the needs of a specific project.
