Hello! I' am fairly new on this website and recently began my job transition. Not too long ago, I decided to aim for a Project Management job in the Entertainment Industry but noticed that PMI.org doesn't really offer much related to this field. Can anyone offer any advice on how I can begin networking with those who work in entertainment and get a foot in?

I've worked in administrative positions in performing theatres as Administrative Assistant and as Assistant Project Manager. I recently received a new responsibility in the Army Reserves as a Program Manager and have history in leadership positions.

Welcome to the community.
I personally can't help you, however did you try to reach out your local chapter? maybe they can help to network.

Good question, Yuh-Boh

the project managers in entertainment (movies, life events, parks) I met did not consider themselves to be project managers but rather being in roles that use skills that I would call PM skills, they don't.

A bit like in other professions, e.g. lawyers, medical doctors, construction managers who focus on their industry and by the way may use good practices you might find in th PMBoK Guide.

And they are happy where they are and what they do and don't feel a motivation to take their organizing and leading experience to other areas.

On the other hand, I have seen people organizing events that moved towards project management.
