I am just reaching out to get any feedback on the Agile Hybrid Project Pro (AHPP) certification. What are some thoughts of the content offered by PMI that you learn on your own? Is this a certification that is well recognized? It seems like it is going along with the current trends of the industry and the latest PMBOK. Thanks in advance everyone!

I personally liked the course and highly recommend it. It is very well structured and comprehensive - Another reason it does add value is the fact that a large percentage of the professionals these days work in a Hybrid Environment.

PMI came up with those specialized micro-credentials in order to help professionals sharpen their skills and knowledge in certain areas.

Just to be clear, this is not a certification, it is a micro-credential. Below is some further info:

•Course Fees = $175 Members / $200 Non-Members
•10 Hours (On Average) Self-Paced Course
•75 Min Online Exam, Un-Proctored, Course-Based
•Upon completion of the course, you earn 13 PDUs
•Upon completion of the exam, you earn Micro-Credential + Digital Badge
•No Expiration, No Renewal

The have a 20% Discount offer until end of December - I will send you the link and code via a message.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, Rami for the insight. I am reading the Agile Practice Guide which according to the AHPP description is one of the books the micro-credential is based on. I am going to keep reading that and provide any feedback or questions I may have to this post.

Micro-credentials don't have a lot of traction in my job market, yet.

There was a lot of reading material. Some really good information, and some really dry information. A lot of important concepts for a PM to understand, but not a lot of it was covered by exam questions.

I liked the attention given to organizational change. The piece I felt the course missed was practical examples of hybrid models. I understand that PMI probably doesn't want to come across as defining a specific hybrid model, but don't expect to finish the course knowing how to apply a specific hybrid model to your next project.

Thanks, Aaron. I was wondering if the reading material was similar to the Agile Practice Guide or something more? The guide is a free download for PMI members which is good.

Aaron,

My thoughts exactly. Went through the content twice and yet when taking the practice quiz, I am getting only 50% of the correct answers. The questions in the quiz don't have any resemblance of the course content.

I just purchased the PMI-ACP Exam Prep Book. I think at this point, I'll just use it as a reference. I simply don't have the years experience in I.T./SDLC that becoming certified ACP will make much of a difference as I come from the non-I.T. companies. I like Rami's description of 'adaptive-waterfall' instead for those not in the I.T. industry. Any comments are welcomed. I'm focusing my time for April on passing the ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt in May. Maybe I'll retake the AHPP afterwards using the ACP Book as reference.

Luke, this guide you are reading is very very high level. If you want ot read a great book and truly understand Agile, I recommend you purchase Mike Griffith's book: PMI-ACP Exam Prep.

Its true it is an exam prep book but its a great resource that I still use up to date.

Once you start the course, the bulk of the assigned reading is from PMI.org - over 140 articles.

I took the Agile Hybrid Project Pro course and it was indeed a great opportunity to broaden knowledge and skills on Agile and Hybrid project practices. More recently, a large amount of IT projects tend to fall into the Hybrid category as we move towards AI, Big Data and IoT where organizations need to adopt hybrid teams to deliver data-driven platform services involving agile and predictive teams collaborating together.

I think it is a great addition and a worthy credential to add to your portfolio as a project manager. I however agree that this is a new micro-credential that a large section of professionals are still getting to know and acknowledge its relevance.

I just finished the Agile Hybrid Project Pro course & exam, and I have to say that the course alone may not be sufficient to pass the examination at the end. I highly recommend additional study material as the examination questions are situational, rather than knowledge based. It honestly felt like I was taking my PMP exam all over again (the new 2021 version), just in a shorter time-box. Definitely keep an eye on the clock if you are doing the exam.

Can you please suggest resources that will help me pass the exam? I am about to start the course on PMI website and I strongly feel having additional resources and simulation questions would help me understand the course better and also pass the exam

I would agree with this. I didn't find the course material helped me at all on the accompanying quiz. I managed 50% correct and that was largely from personal experience.

Sorry for my late response. The exam is a mini PMP so you will need to study any good PMP material you have (I recommend Joseph Phillips' PMP Exam Prep Seminar 2021 plus the Agile Manifesto). You will also need to have an open mindset that understands that in reality most IT projects could be a combination of Agile & Waterfall.

I haven't heard of simulation exams for micro-credentials. As for the exam itself, yes, you ned to have some knowledge and experience in Agile in general. refer to my suggestion for Luke above.
