PMP will always give you an edge. The number of contact hours you earn from the Project management course can be used for the training experience BUT to as project management experience.

Both PMP and PRINCE 2 are great but I would start with PMP as it is more general and then move ro PRINCE 2 as it is about project management in controlled environments unless it's more recognized in Australia.

As for the course, you only need 35 PDU for training. The 4500 hours I believe are for proof of experience and not education.

Hope this helps - Good Luck !

You better search the market (profession, location, etc.) that you would like to work in. That will give you an idea which can help more.

Each time I think to spend time and money in getting a certification I made my own estimation about future market demands. This was my information to decide about to go with one certification or another.
