Could it be challenging to get a PM job after being certified?

I think that having a network is important to make contact with organizations you are interested to be part of, but the knowledge and experience you have are the primary attribute you must show on track to get the job you want

I was wrong by saying network is the key. Networking is one of the keys

Hi PMI team, I am going for my PMP cert right now, so assuming I will come up in the same situation. I am currently 6 years into a Talent Acquisition career, in doing this I have found a love for employee experience and creating processes, and making sure a workplace has these in place to succeed. This is why I have chosen to do this path. I am excited about this yet nervous to gain the PM experience. But we have to start somewhere.

Just do anything possible to get the PMP. It is a great tool, companies look for PMPs. Recruiter contact me often since I got my PMP.

What is better choice, either renewal of the old PMP Certification in Version 4, or gaining new PMP certification in the latest version?... Thanks

I don't know if I understand your question clearly? There is a process to attend some PMI activities in order to renew your certificate. These activities will give you 60PDUs in order to renew your certificate. You don't need to take the exam again.

Adding to the comment that you don't need to take the test again, when providing your credentials to a prospective employer, you don't provide what PMBoK version was current at the time, just the PMP.

As they say in golf, just mark your score. There is not enough room on the card to say how you got there.

Previously, I only held a CAPM. I have gotten a few more calls since earning my PMP. I'd like to think that my experience and PMP are enough to land a job as a PM however, there may be more to it.

Given the volume of applicants for most posted roles, unless you happen to match the needs of the hiring manager or recruiter perfectly, getting a warm introduction (i.e. having someone the recruiter or hiring manager knows and trusts put your resume in front of them) is going to be a lot more effective than a cold one.

The majority of the contract or full-time roles I landed over my career in PM were thanks to the gracious support of someone within my network.

So that is a yes - it can be difficult to land a PM role without a friend, family member, or network on the inside?
