It seems the user pay as you go option is available everywhere. To me there is a case for it and it makes sense. Along with that, many find value in doing things in groups/teams - why not PMI membership renewals? Of course, PMI only offers the individual one-time payment membership renewal. However, there doesn't seem to be an explanation for the single payment option. Has anyone else inquired about or is interested in membership payment options? Saving Changes...

Greetings Rami,
I suggest that membership payment should also be available on a monthly, quarterly, and or bi-annual pay as you go basis. It seems most big SaaS companies offer the monthly option along with the one-time yearly. Additionally, teams interested in a group renewal, and or chapters seeking to bundle their renewals might benefit from a group option. (please let me know if this is a decent explanation)
As far as I'm aware, most professional organizations have an annual membership fee rather than a subscription-style model. This is not to say that the latter wouldn't be feasible so I'd suggest contacting PMI customer care and suggesting they consider this as an option. It likely wouldn't make sense for Chapter membership dues as those are quite low to begin with.

Greetings Kiron,
Thanks for your response. Yes the chapter membership fees are very affordable. However, those who may be considering joining more than one chapter, in addition to renewing their PMI membership, should benefit from special bundles if offered. Fortunately, PMI customer care has confirmed that payment options are something they will take under advisement in the future. However for now, there is only the one-time payment structure.

Thank you for the elaboration Carmieshra. I hear you point of view but I highly doubt that this will work with PMIs business model as there are membership perks offered to paid members like less exam fees, less renewal fees, use of resources and so on. If the membership changes to options of monthly, quarterly or semi-annually and annually then PMI will have to adjust their member perks accordingly.
It is doable but not sure if it’s on PMI’s agenda. I honestly am a member of seven more organizations similar to PMI and all of them only offer annual membership with no other options:
- Axelos (They offer membership per product but annually) - PMO Global Alliance - IIBA - Agile Business Consortium - Green Project Management

You are welcome Rami. Thanks for the reply. This discussion is worthwhile, and I am glad we are having it. I agree, changing payments may be complex but doable. Saving Changes...

I have been part of such discussions in some of my membership-based organizations. The point was raised that a monthly subscription makes sense if you can deliver value to member during that period. At the end of the day, the biggest reason to fix the membership fee for a period longer than a month is one of commitment by the candidate.
We felt that monthly membership did not reflect the level of engagement to the organization we expect from our members. Saving Changes...
