Should project managers in the construction industry, begin thinking of tangential opportunities? With the surreal boom in construction, what is your estimate for the inevitable bust?

The building industry has been climbing with no end in site. Historically and realistically speaking, it will end. When it does , I'd like to be able to already be outside of the box. Any projections from my Project Manager Friends is much appreciated. Saving Changes...
Construction is such a broad domain that if one particular industry starts to shrink, another will be growing. Also, with large infrastructure investments being made globally (e.g. U.S. infrastructure bill, China Belt & Road), so long as you are able to relocate, opportunities shouldn't be an issue.
However, if you have a deep interest in moving into another domain, you can certainly start to plan for that, but you will need to get sufficient technical knowledge of that domain to be seen as a credible PM.

If anything, the construction industry will boo more and more. There is lots going on from AI, 3D Printing, Machine Learning and so on.
I personally believe the construction industry will be here for at least the next 20 years. It is not going anywhere.

If anything, the industry is still expanding into new areas. I know our local community college, for example, now offers heritage building renovation programs.
This can quickly become a problem as demand and requirements are refined to industry specialties, rather than general industry experience and knowledge. Saving Changes...
