Is PMP Certification becoming more or less valuable?

The Project Management Institute (PMI®) is the leader and the most widely recognized organization in promoting the best practices in project management. It was founded in 1969 and started offering the Project Management Professional® (PMP®) exam and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) certifications in 1984. As more and more professionals started working on acquiring a PMP certification, many have skeptical view about PMP. This article summarizes different views about the certification.

I wonder about the sentence "In Europe and Australia the qualification of choice is PRINCE2 and/or MSP" .. many of us have seen enough such certified people who don't have the first clue about how to run a project, that I would doubt people take those qualifications very seriously any more.
