PDUs to report for work as a Project manager
Hello everyone, I would like to know how many PDUs I can get if I work as a Project Manager in a Project Office per year. Thanks in advance.

For working as a practitioner, you are allowed to claim and report up to 8 PDU’s every 3 years cycle towards your PMP renewal.

Yes, I believe 8 is correct per 3 year cycle. Do you have any thoughts on providing “lunch-and-learns” for your customers as a way to promote your company’s business interest? Would this account for additional PDUs to report or just fall under working as a practitioner? You may be able to report as giving back to the community.

Doing lunch-and-learn sessions is a different form of Giving Back (it appears as Other Giving Back on CCRS.) Check out the certification handbook for more information.

Thanks everyone for the insight on this. I was wondering how did you categorize the PDUs?

My pleasure, Luke. I know the handbook can sometimes leave things ambiguous. (For example, I struggled with the examples of contact hours.) When that happens, I reach out to PMI Customer Care. Good luck!

Here are other ways to earn PDU's (under giving back):
1) Create Content. If you contribute to the project management world by writing an article, book, or creating a blog.
2) Give a Presentation. You can give a presentation in a PMI
chapter, in a professional seminar or to office members.
3) Volunteering at local colleges or universities with PM progarams.
These are all in the same category as working as a PMP. Total maximum PDU's can be up to 25.
