Surround yourself with leaders. When you were born and grew up, you were surrounded by leaders--parents, teachers, coaches-- and learned by their example and guidance. Continue learning through example and guidance from those around you.

Most of our life we learn on our own. Sometimes we see people we want to emulate. Sometimes we see people who show us what we don't want to be or do. A truly wise woman taught me that I have something to learn from everyone I encounter.

Finally, don't underestimate the power of failure: it is the shortcut to success.
