I am looking for an alternative to MS Project. I used about 20% of the functions in MS Project and need to find a MAC Project Plan software. I am looking for something that has task and subtasks, gantt charts, resource names, critical path, milestones and dependencies. Would appreciate your input as I am only 7 days into using a MAC and haven't a clue what to use.

you could try one of the new-fangled web-based products which work on anything with a browser.

Looking around this one seems ok http://www.projectwizards.net/en/merlin/

I have a whole host of project management software reviews on my blog so you could have a browse through there for some suggestions of tools to evaluate. I haven't reviewed them with PC or Mac specially in mind, because as Russell says, most web-based tools are designed to work with any browser, so if you choose one of those you should have a selection to work with. You could also browse the Apple website, there are a few mentioned there that will work with Apple products.

Go web based! Storing data on your computer is obsolete.

Also, how are you managing contacts and other business functions? WORKetc integrates project management software (with the features you have requested) with CRM, timesheets, and other useful business tools. Because it's integrated, there's no need to use additional applications that lack integration and proper workflow efficiency. WORKetc is also collaboration friendly, and you can invite clients to use the system and even collaborate.

You can find a comparison of WORKetc and other project management software here: http://www.worketc.com/compare

Hi Debby,

You could try Merlin http://www.projectwizards.net/en/. It provides all the functionality you listed and a good bit more. I spent a very long time trying to find a Mac based replacement for MSProject and Merlin was the only thing that met my criteria. I should mention that I am a little biased because I work for the company now, but I was a fan of it way before that.

If you'd like a walkthru of the app, just let me know and I'll be happy to give you a tour.

Thanks
Dave

Wow!!! Thank you so much for your input. I am going to take a look at all of the suggestions each of you offered. Changing to Mac is a task for me as I have been a MS Project and Visio user for many years. I appreciate everyone taking time to help me. It is much appreciated.

You can give it a try to RationalPan Project Management Software. It works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.

Don't you think you could try web project management software? In my opinion using this type of tool is profitable becaouse everyone who has connection to internet can use it without any other requirements.

Hi Debby,
you don't say who else has to use this tool? Is it just you? Do you have to share the schedules with other stakeholders? Is everyone using Macs?
There are a lot of project scheduling tools out there but you need to understand your broader requirements as well.

Good luck
Julie

Have you tried a cloud version of MS Project? www.apponfly.com/en/microsoft-project-standard-2016?EZE It can be accessed from almost any device except Linux based devices and it's available for 30day free trial.
