The digital certification badges which PMI issues are supposed to be "official" proof of your status so I'd start with those.
If that isn't sufficient, you could take a printed copy of the certificate to any local notary and using the online digital badge get them to sign off that the certificate is authentic.
Also, if you authorized PMI to list you in the certification registry, the company or client you will be working with can independently confirm your status there...
It seems I'm going to have to try Kiron's suggestion, again.
The first notary I took the certificate to was a bit old fashioned and very strict, and couldn't cope with the idea of digital badges etc.

As a bit of background - I want to use my certificate in Vietnam.
The only way it will be recognized by the authorities is if I have a notarized paper copy, authenticated by the local branch of the state department in the same state as the notary, and then legalized by the Vietnamese embassy.
It's not an easy process.
And yes, individual companies are more flexible regarding online registers etc, but unfortunately some governments are not. Saving Changes...
