This post on PMI's volunteer website indicates that a software extension to the PMBOK is in the works.
Given that there are extensions for areas such as construction and the DOD (Department of Defense), I'm not surprised we're seeing one now for software.
Interestingly, the call for volunteers are those who have done Agile:
"The purpose of the Software Extension to the PMBOK® Guide is to provide guidance to software developers and their managers related to project management of software development projects, and the use of iterative project management methodologies (including Agile) in conjunction with the PMBOK® Guide."
More indication of PMI's move toward Agile methods (The other being the new Agile Certified Practitioner certification). Saving Changes...

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. The article doesn't say when the extension aims to be ready. Does anyone have any ideas? Saving Changes...
"Interestingly, according to modern astronomers, space is finite. This is a very comforting thought--particularly for people who can never remember where they have left things."
