Hello all,
I have been challenged as a Project Manager for the applications migration project. Please share some tips and project template to plan this out. Thanks in advance.

Thanks,
Rajni

Rajni,

this is a wide field and a typical IT operations project.
Some things to consider come to my mind, and they are certainly not complete.

- data migration from legacy to new application, depending on cutover type
- change management to prepare users of old/new application
- types of (automated) testing, including parallel run, reconciliation, comparing results
- backup and fallback plans for cutover
- servers (technology change e.g. move to cloud)
- cutover type, staged or bigbang
- after cutover support (hypercare)
- interfaces to other applications

- current functionality and which groups/individuals are using it
- does all needed functionality exist in the new tool?
- application permissions/groups
- does the old system need to be run in parallel, for a short time (comparing results, financials, auditing, make sure there's no missing data, etc...)
