Interesting, but this is not a good solution. Getting back at your boss will turn the relationship sour, which means you will have a harder time in the future.
I would suggest to have a closed door conversation with your boss. Clarify any doubts and hear from him (his side of explanation) what have gone wrong in you. He might be right on something that you yourself have missed and you have to change. If you realized that it is not your fault, you may try to explain to your boss.
In any case, try to work out a plan on how to reconcil the problem and what you should do, and what your boss would expect you to do to improve the situation.
Talk, talk, talk! Avoid any speculation and guessing games that will create more misunderstanding. Saving Changes...

I agree with Wai Mun: there are better ways to deal with your manager. I'm currently reading a book called It's OK to Manage Your Boss, and there are lots of tips in there about creating a good working relationship with your manager.
