My team develops 2 to 3 types of products.
For each product certain standards must be adhered to.
The standards are clearly defined, well documented and easily accessible by everyone.
Still, people sometimes forget to adhere to certain steps in the standard.
How do I ensure that people always remember to adhere to all steps in the standards (document)?
Are there any best practices in this regard?
Any suggestions which have proven to work will be greatly appreciated. Saving Changes...

In addition to suggesting that you engage the team in a discussion of the standards and the reasons for them, I'd have to agree with Aryamer Basrah. A checklist is a powerful tool, and will help in fulfillment on procedures. Saving Changes...
In most projects I am involved we must be sure that standards (product and others) are understood, implemented or product is compliant with them.
We usually have checkpoints/gate reviews and double check that everything is in place Saving Changes...

Agree with others regarding check points. In addition, a peer review can in many cases be helpful. If you directly oversee the team, you can consider adding a peer review rating based on errors/quality of work. These can later be used on reviews and/or 1-1 sessions. Lastly, accountability is key on any team. Since the quality standards have been defined, perhaps the missing element is clearly defining accountability standards. When doing so, it is important to keep in mind that everyone is bound to make mistakes, it is the team members that trend high on the mistakes chart that need further review. Perhaps, they're disengaged or lacking confidence in a specific skill set. Identifying this for the applicable team members can really make a difference for the team. Saving Changes...
