I recommend Rita Mulcahy's certification prep, it's a good option to acquire PM Knowledge at your own pace, and is updated to the latest exam. Visit this link:

1) Read the PMBOK 6th edition in details
2) Read through the PMBOK 7th edition.
3) Rita Mulcahy exam prep book is great resource
4) Do simulation exams - PM PrepCast is a good resource.

Good Luck!

Study up on test taking skills. Practice writing down all the formulas before you start the exam instead of trying to remember them during, and skipping any question you are not 100% certain about on the 1st pass are 2 examples of test taking time management.
I entirely agree with Rami K.; those four steps are perfect. Keith's tips are helpful as well.
My advice, prepare yourself mentally for the moment you sit to take the exam (the hardest part of the process). Practice with as many simulation exams as you can. I remember that after 2 hours, I began to feel cramps all over my body, and my vision was blurry. Then I started falling behind the original timing I planned (1 minute per question) since I needed to switch from Spanish to English and vice versa to understand what I was reading. I started getting nervous and anxious. At some point, I stopped and took a short break (in front of the computer). The simulation exams were of great help to me.
