Is the current exam still based on PMBOK6? If so, when will the exam change?

From what I hear, it is still mostly based on the 6th Edition and there is no date for a change as PMI are taking a different, agile approach and injecting new questions all the time from different resources. PMBOK is only one resource.

The Exam is based on the Exam Content Outline. For creating exam questions PMI relies on 10 different references. The PMBOK Guide (no edition noted) is one of the 10.

Personally, I think PMI has done a poor job with the new exam and it's integration with the PMBOK. The PMBOK's relevance has been diminished and it needs to be brought back up to its point as the primary publication to make use of and understand.

The exam is based on Exam Content Outline (ECO) - https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...nt-outline.pdf. It is not based on any specific book but PMBOK Guide is the primary reference for the exam.

For now, go with 6th ed. and Agile Practice Guide.

As per PMP reference list article (https://www.pmi.org/certifications/project...eference-list), you should refer to other books as well.
