My answer is "it depends". If you work in a PMO where you can request a different assignment, the options are easy. If you are a high level contracted program manager, you have to be far more clever and creative since your pay may depend on completion or maintaining that relationship. I have believed for years the PM toolbox is missing a contract specifically between the Sponsor and the PM to define acceptable practices, limitations, & exclusions. Saving Changes...
