Hi all,
I'm preparing PMP Certification and I'm quite confuse about "best" tools. In the last PMBOK version (seventh edition), knowledge areas "became" Project Performance Domains. PMI on-line course is based on Domains & Tasks as described in ECO.
But Rita's book is still based on the 10 knowledge areas and 49 processes.
In the examination, are there still items regarding processes ? Some recent posts still consider Rita's book as a good preparation tool ...
For this "new" examination version, in which tool do I have to concentrate my energy ? in which approach : 49 processes/10 knowledge areas/5 Process groups or 36 Tasks with more 129 enablers for the 3 Domains ?
Thanks for your reply and help ! Saving Changes...

As far as I am aware and hear from candidates, the PMP exam is still heavily based on the PMOBOK 6th edition so I think you should thoroughly go through the 6th edition and read through the 7th then complement your studies with Rita Mulcahy’s book and simulation exams from PM PrepCast. Hope this helps - Good Luck.
The last PMBOK: PMBOK 7th edition has an intense agile approach, but PMP exam may include concepts of the previous edition (PMBOK 6th edition); so, you should read both books. Additionally, for your preparation, I recommend Rita Mulcahy's certification prep, it's a good option to acquire PM Knowledge at your own pace, and is updated to the latest exam. I would say you should familiarize yourself with both editions.

I concur. I would also add in the Agile Practice Guide should be read, as well. I found that reading these 3 texts assisted me greatly with my exam.

I took the PMP exam this past April and I echo what other posters have stated. The exam is still based largely on the 6th edition, but the 7th edition focuses on leadership which can also be questioned in the exam, so it's good to read both. Additionally, agile and hybrid methodologies are becoming more prominent in the exam, so reviewing those (scrum, XP, iterative, incremental, etc.) will be beneficial to you as well. Better to understand and not need than need and not understand. Best of luck!

No problem! I also highly recommend PMI's Study Hall. I only paid for the basic version, but it was a huge asset in my passing of my exam. Saving Changes...
