How would you explain the definiton of High-level around Project Management? So Far I am understanding it is something that is complete whether if it is design requirements, planning, RAM, descriptions or others, but does not have a lot of details. Am I Correct? PMP Junior Student here. Thank you.

It depends on the size & nature of the project, etc.
However, it should include the high levels of WBS.
You are right, it may not come with details!

For example, we have a high-level schedule that represent the entire project (30% Design, 60% Design, 100% Design, Construction) and in each of those sections it have high level tasks (Prepare 30% Design, Review 30% Design, 1st level approval, etc...). The detailed schedule have very detailed view of the project, for example (instead of Construction to Substantial Completion; it has all the activities involved in completing the project to substantial "Excavate, Install 12" Piping, Backfill, etc...". The Design and Construction detailed scheduled are then used to update the % complete at the high-level.

When you say high-level it means without going into details. For example, we have high level schedule which have milestone dates only as compared to detailed schedule that has work packages broken into tasks.

We also have high level estimates which are for main work packages as compared to detailed budgets for each categories broken down into task levels.

Hope this makes sense.

"High Level" by it's nature tells you that there are multiple potential levels of detail or decomposition used to describe something. Those levels of detail can be considered a hierarchy often drawn like a tree where the higher levels contain all the items below them.

The higher or lower levels are all about the hierarchy. That is admittedly confusing as a higher level description of anything, has a lower level of detail.

Using requirements as an example, a high level requirement for a product would be "The product must be safe." Safety at the top level might be broken down into not directly causing some hazard, and protecting against external hazards. Each of those can again be broken down into lower levels of more detail.

A high level estimate for a car might be to compare it to a similar car, and assume a similar cost. A bottom-up estimate by comparison might estimate the cost of each part individually, and the assembly costs to turn all those parts into the vehicle, step-by-step.

I think the key is "Know Your Audience" and meet their expectations. What do they want to know? What level of detail are expecting? Are you able to manage expectations? Can you give them Status (Red, Green, Yellow, on-track, %complete) with drill down capability and meet their needs? Do they want to get in the WBS weeds? Pay attention to what you think they need and what they expect.

High-level would usually imply:
- less effort & elapsed time spent
- less fidelity/accuracy
- less likelihood of a commitment being made

A Rough Order of Magnitude estimate would usually be considered a high-level estimate. The top level of a WBS or user story map would normally be high-level.

High-level project management means your focus is on the whole picture rather than the details. Therefore, a high-level focus makes sure to understand how the different project management pieces go together, rather understanding each piece.
