This all depends on you, your level of confidence, experience and so on. On aerage, candidates take between 3 to 6 months to prepare. The on demand course on its own is not enough.

April12 to May 3: Project Management Basics - An Official PMI Online Course
May 3 to June 11: Pocket Prep study aid, Reading PMBOK 6 other CAPM exam study prep
June 11: CAPM exam, passed Above Target overall
June 11 to August 27: Pocket Prep study aid, Reread PMBOK 6, Read PMBOK 7 twice, Read Agile Practice Guide twice, utilised PMI Study Hall Basic, had access to Skillsoft's PMP prep courses and exams, used other free mock exams online, read a lot of articles on this site, played PM Challenge
August 27: Wrote PMP Exam and passed Above Target in all 3 domain. I felt I did better on the PMP exam than I did on the CAPM. Saving Changes...
