Not sure if anyone can help but thought it was worth a shot.
We are struggling to find a project management tool that will have/allow us to do the following:
Track and manage projects including tasks and sub tasks
Manage resources and timesheets for these resources
Resource availability reporting
Interactive GANTT charts for each project with Critical Path Analysis (not a deal breaker but would be handy)
Web Based system so we can login from anywhere
Flexible API
ATTAsk looked perfect but after discussing pricing with them we have decided this is way out of budget. There must be something out there that handles all this.

I wish you the best of luck with your search - I was in the same position a few months ago and personally tested all the big names: AtTask, Genius, Daptiv, etc. In the end I went back to creating Gantt charts in MS Project, and tracking everything else in Excel. The way I saw it, all those PM tools on the market each had their critical flaw that was a showstopper. Thre isn't a single tool yet that takes the good ideas from all the others and offers one comprehensive package. Saving Changes...

I agree with Julien. Those tools in the market either miss out some critical features here and there that we need or they provide too many funtionalities that we don't need making the system more complicated and hard to use and we are paying with a load of things that we are not using. Our decision was to build it from scratch with only those functions we need and we have better control and more economical in the long run.

Hi Joe, great post and replies. Perhaps I have a different take. Let me first add that I am in no way associated with the Attask company. You said that Attask looked perfect but was way out of your budget. Having a little bit of familiarity with the Attask pricing model, I find it hard to believe that Attask could be way outside anyone's budget..!
Be that as it may, I would seek to both negotiate a better price from Attask as well as negotiate a more reasonable budget from your executive team or approval head. I don't mean to contradict the advise of the others (which is all excellent), but you did state that Attask looked perfect for your needs. So, find a way to go get it..! I would think that any salesperson with a pulse could help you justify a solution that is a perfect fit over other options (such as developing your own tool) and help you arrive at a win-win going forward fit.
