CAPM Exam Scoring

I’m trying to understand the test scoring and getting different answers from every source. Is the scoring process just not transparent due to it being protected information, or is the process conducted in such a way that they can’t easily explain how it’s scored? Is the passing score actually different for every person?

As far as I know, PMI do not reveal passing scores. Your passing score is dependent on how difficult your exam was and the combination of question you get. This is what I’ve heard over time.

Result scores are shown as indicators above target, below target or target. A fixed score number isn't provided, and, as Rami says, the scores depend on the exam difficult, and the combination of questions that have been selected.

Hi,

I just took a quick look at my CAPM score.

There is the overall score bar that goes from Needs Improvement, Below Target, Target, and Above Target. Where you fall on that bar graph depends on your average score of NI/BT/T/AT per the 13 domains that the exam covers. There are a set number of tasks per domain, and you may not necessarily be tested on those tasks equally. Per task, your questions are averaged low, medium, and high, which will give you the NI/BT/T/AT score per domain.

The PMP Exam is scored the same way, except you only have 3 domains to focus on. I found the PMP exam to be more difficult, but I scored better on it than the CAPM as far as passing Above Target for both. At least the indicator was higher on the Above Target bar for the PMP.
