It could qualify, but not sure. Depends how many hours did you actually spend on the course and if it is all project management related.
You can always try to apply with it and provide your certificate if you get audited.
Given that the course expects 10 hours a week for 6 months, I would say it more than suffices for your PMP application contact houirs. (PDUs are needed after you get the certification.)
PDUs are needed prior to certification too.
Requirements are below.
4,500 hours leading and directing projects OR 36 months of project management experience.
35 hours of project management education.
PS : Best thing is to do do some Udemy courses in Youtube and it tells you how many PDUs you earn. There are specific courses for preparation of PMP which earn PDUs. (Some earn 15 units, some 21 and some the complete 35 units.). This would be the quickest way to get there.
That being said, I would write to PMP and see how many PDUs your google certificate can earn. Then make the submission so it gets approved. And do more PDUs if required.
Contact hours are the education hours necessary to apply for a particular certification.
Personal development units are the education hours necessary to renew a particular certification.
I don’t disagree at all. In the context I mean to say Varsha requires 35 educational PDUs. I am not exactly sure how much PDUs worth is a Google certificate. But writing to them you can get your concerns answered.
Varsha requires 35 contact hours for her application. The number of contact hours associated with the Google certificate is driven by the number of hours Varsha spent over the duration of the course.
If Varsha already had a PMI certification then she could use the Google educational hours as PDUs towards the renewal of her certification.
contact hours: required to apply
PDUs: required to renew
I already said," I don't disagree". On the hours and nuancesand do not want to belabor on this.
That being said, Varsha needed clear directions to get her google certificate converted to required Contact hours. Writing to PMI creates a ticket and PMI usually gets back with correct answers within a reasonable time.
Which is what I have done only last year and i have been speaking of my experiences.
Hope that clarifies.
If I sound pedantic it's because I'm trying to be careful for those who don't know that PDUs are not the same as contact hours, and vice versa.
It is educational contact hours prior to the exam or obtaining certification.
And PDU after your get the certification to maintain the certification.
PS: Have edited the verbiage as contact hours in my reply. now.
I know of a few people who have used the course to apply for the PMP exam. Currently, to apply for the PMP exam, you require the following:
CAPM certification OR 35h of Project Management Education.
36 months of project management experience if you hold a post-secondary degree OR 60 months of project management experience if you do not have a university degree, and just a diploma, be it for secondary or a community college.
If you have a degree from one of PMI's GAC accredited universities, the requirement for project management experience drops down to 24 months. I don't know of too many people who fall under this option.
