This is all wonderful to consider. Do you think it would be wise to take a scrum course before I take the PMP course (and ultimately the test)? THANK YOU SO MUCH!
On Rami's points
I agree with his points on 1, 2,3 and 5. items 1 refers to Agile guide. Item 2 refers to all other textbooks which you must read including SCRUM. (Reading Rita Mulcahy is not required and certainly did not help me.). Any simulation exam is helpful.
Also, i like to emphasize the current exam is highly Agile, Scrum and hybrid oriented. The waterfall questions are only about 40 percent. And I am speaking from my experience of passing the exam only last year.

Good for you, Vijay.
For Rita’s book, I never said it is required, it is a supplementary resource and the fact that it didn’t help you doesn’t mean it’s not a good resource.

At the end of the day, everyone has their own experiences so you have to do your due diligence and decide how you want to move forward with this. I still highly recommend Rita’s book as a supplementary resource because it’s a great resource, not because it is required. I deal with candidates frequently and I know what value it adds. I myself used this when I did my PMP years ago.
PMI do not specify the PMBOK as being the only resource to studying, it’s one of many that they reference.
On the exam, a decent percentage of the exam has Agile and/or Hybrid approach questions but Scrum is only one framework and on its own, it is not enough.
Good Luck with your exam.

Hi Jessica,
I highly recommend paying for PMI's Study Hall in addition to the 35h course required to be eligible for the PMP exam. It was my best exam prep resource. I only used the Essentials version, and not the plus.
I did not take a 35h course, because I did the CAPM certification prior to writing my PMP, but a lot of people swear by Andrew Ramdayal's Udemy course for PMP prep. He also has free videos on YouTube which you can watch. Ricardo Vargas also has an amazing video to assist with the PMBOK processes for both the 6th and 7th editions.
I also read PMBOK 6, 7, and the Agile Practice Guide to assist with my prep, and had Pocket Prep premium for some practice questions. Through my company, I also had free access to Skillsoft's PMP prep courses and mock exams. Saving Changes...
