I am about halfway through the PMI course online with PMBOK 6 - had to take a 6 month hiatus because I was brought in to do project coordination for an acquisition/integration. I saw that the PMBOK 7 will be used early 2023. Should I hold off on continuing studying the 6th edition and wait until the 7th edition is loaded into the system for the 23 credits before I can take the exam? Saving Changes...

I think you need to focus on PMBOK 7 rather than PMBOK 6. PMBOK 6 and prior versions discuss knowledge areas and processes, whereas PMBOK 7 starts with the fundamental principles that guide the framework, leading to knowledge areas and processes.
