All businesses believe that teamwork inspires success, however, ensuring an effective team is still a mystery to most organizations. Most organizational teams suffer from trust issues, reduced engagement, personality conflicts, and lack of communication, although having a good team might appear challenging, there are ways organizations can build strong teams through innovative thinking, building commitment, overcoming obstacles, handling conflicts, and removing communication barriers.
I would like to learn and know more on the strategies that companies can use to build a strong team for an effective and productive results in an organization? Thanks

Teamwork is the backbone of any enterprise. To be precise and more practical i can recommend the following points

1. The team leader should be a seasoned professional who can manage and guide the team members towards the common goal of the enterprise.
2. Responsibilities to be clearly defined via a responsibility matrix.
3. There should be regular meetings once in a week with concerned team members to listen their concerns and challenges.
4. Training program for potential employees to be in place . Let employee select the program himself and company can sponsor that.
5. Appropriate appraisal & reward program to be in place.
6. Regular get together over lunch/dinner at least once in a month. But No formal discussions about work.
7. In case of mistakes/issues, the root cause to be analyzed and concerned members to be questioned in private. Avoid pointing out individuals in public.
8.Verbal appreciation for any completed task.

Organizations are open (interact with the environment) and adaptable (changes when environment changes) systems. Because of that they have structure (organizational or enterprise architecture). All related to teams are just a component inside the architecture. I mean, is about the organization has to stablish the right architecture that best fits for it strategy. At end, "I am me and my circumstance' were words of the Spanish philosopher Ortega y Gasset.

I'd take a look at Google's Project Aristotle summary of the factors which lead to high performing teams. Psychological safety is the key underpinning supporting the other four factors. If that is not championed by leaders and by the team members, it is hard to get beyond a mediocre level of performance.

Bukola,
If everything existed like what you want, then there would be no need of a Project coordinator or Manager. While to some extent you can mitigate things through strategies and plans and being proactive, it becomes your job to keep everyone on the same page and make sure projects assigned to you doesn't fail. Also, it is the job of functional managers to develop strong teams within each department especially the product design.

Many, if not most, large organizations are process driven with rules and guidelines for just about every activity. This does not lead to "innovative thinking, building commitment, overcoming obstacles, handling conflicts, and removing communication barriers". Basically it says that everything is to be done as before and any changes require high level authorization after exhaustive effort to convince numerous levels of management (meanwhile follow process).

Typically only the highest level is allowed to be "innovative thinking, building commitment, overcoming obstacles, handling conflicts, and removing communication barriers". Why is that? Because the highest level is risk and benefit driven versus process driven.

If you want to achieve an "innovative thinking, building commitment, overcoming obstacles, handling conflicts, and removing communication barriers" operation get rid of the over reliance on process and go to a risk and benefit driven environment throughout the organization .

The standing order should be to "define the problem, analyse and proceed with the solution that most benefits the operation" rather than "find the right form, fill the form, and do what it says at the bottom".
