We can read: "We will also be focused on following through on our new values: • Make It Easy • Aim Higher • Be Welcoming • Together We Can • Embrace Curiosity"
We can still read: "Each day, we will continue to challenge ourselves to embody these values as we empower project professionals from around the world to make ideas a reality."
Will the values change?
Change positioning? (from changemakers to project professionals)
Are we facing a retreat?
Or are we facing: "Each new President, each sentence" or, in other words, the total bewilderment of our organization?
By the way... Are you going to change the logo and the whole visual image? :-) Saving Changes...

Hi Luis
the law is a government law regulating corporations and PMI articles of incorporation. Unlikely to change.
It defines among other things the 3 governance entities Owners (members), Board and Leadership and their relationships.
The articles of incorporation also contain the purpose.
The mission is derived from the purpose and should change from time to time when the environment/market changes. As should products.
There always were chapter leaders of different qualities and with opportunistic behaviors..See no big change here.
While I also see a lack of focus, I do not feel it is bewildered.
My favorite at the end: I do not see a VUCA world, only some who perceive it as such. And many who use the term as marketing instrument to create fear, uncertainty and doubts (FUD).
See my LinkedIn article on this.

Dear Thomas
We can always draw conclusions about what we observe.
We can also, for some situations, think that change is impossible.
But...is it acceptable in an organization like the PMI (the members subscribe to the code of ethics and conduct) to have chapters managed by opportunists and "coup plotters"?
These people undermine PMI's credibility and reputation.
Saving Changes...

Hi Luis
if you have evidence that another person who signed the code acts in violation of it, you are obliged to file a complaint against them.
Often leaders who are able to grasp opportunities and act agile are perceived by out-standers as opportunistic. And having a strategy regarding stakeholder engagement or executing proper change management can be seen as plotting a coup.

Dear Thomas
Do you think PMI cares about these situations?
And or do they take steps to correct these situations?
Or is there always an explanation for opportunistic behavior?

Luis,
yes, I think they care about Chapters doing well, to the merit of members.
And I have seen PMI stepping in situations, they can suspend a chapter and demand changes to bylaws etc.
Again, they need evidence, not gossip.

Dear Luis,
happy new year.
These interventions and problems are not published to global membership and are not easy to identify. Local members will know if there is something brewing, as they will normally be informed by PMI if their Chapter is suspended, on probation or else. You can guess from the Chapter disappearing from the Chapter listing on pmi.org, like for the Russian Chapters or the Pakistan, Karachi Chapter, or as I observed in Germany 10+ years ago, the Frankfurt Chapter.
For me, anything that is not substantiated by evidence amounts to gossip. It is human but not positive.

Dear Thomas:
And when is it documented?
And despite that, do PMI people whistle to the side and/or make a thousand and one excuses and/or do everything to make it forgotten?
Or make calls to justify unjustifiable?
I take this opportunity to wish you a good year 2023

Dear Thomas:
Complexity and ambiguity do not reside in truth. But what do we do with the truth when we discover it. What are you thinking of doing after our exchange of messages?
