There are many options out there for self-publishing ranging from you do it all yourself and spend very little to having a boutique publishing company handle it all for you.

I went with the latter option using a publishing company here in Canada (Tellwell) a couple of years back. It cost me a couple of thousand dollars, but their ownership of getting the various distribution channels (online and physical) setup as well as managing the royalties flow to me made it worth it.

If you solely plan on using Amazon as your distribution channel, they provide a lot of assistance for publishing through their platform. In my case, I wanted multiple channels and not just Amazon so it was a bit more complicated.
