Hi Ankush,
Firstly, you have to first develop some core skills (which you seem to have.). Use your industry experience to take up more responsibilities than what you do to begin with. Do act as a project coordinator, develop people skills, work with departments, take initiative in doing things, lead a team, work with customer (to understand their requirements), develop soft and empathetic skills towards internal and external customers and co-workers etc. Work with Integrity and utmost honesty. These traits will develop your Leadership skills.
Secondly, problem solve differently (think outside box, automate, look for ways to save tedious work, be tactical, use strategy in your teamwork. Understand the vision of the organization and where your leader wants to head. And how you can contribute better as a team lead. This will take care of Strategy part.
Finally, you can then invest in management education like PMP, project management or even marketing management, a post diploma that interests you and adds value to your career. (This is investing in yourself and by far the best thing you can do. You have to find yourself here.) And always have the interest to learn or broaden your horizons and know more. Be a lifelong learner.
As you develop these traits, consciously apply for jobs that suits your skills in management. Know yourself and know yourself well. (Strength and weaknesses). And ease into new management positions and grow.
Good luck with your career! Saving Changes...

Trying to add something to great comment above I will write something obvious but you are talking about management which is not the same than project management. Mainly in the software field. So, important thing is you set up your objectives (short, medium and long term) then state some kind of mission and vision to achieve them. At the end, to use a today buzzword, how you will add value (or better: how the environment will perceived the value you add) to achieve your objectives. Saving Changes...
