CONFUSED: Exam Prep How to prioritize: Rita's Exam Prep, Edition 7, edition 6.

Hello Everyone, I am preparing for the exam for PMP and completed Rita's Exam Prep 10th edition 2 times. I was goign over youtube videos and found out that there was one video talkign about 7th edition and the content did not match with Ritas exam prep which I guess is based off of Edition 6. Moreover guide 6 is 900+ pages while guide 7 is some 300+ pages. So I need your help with to understand what should be my main focus. did I waste all my efforts reading Rita exam prep or do i need to read Rita + edition 6 and edition 7. Moreover I bought Phillip's udemy course as well. I am confused and need your expert guidance on what needs to be on my priority list in terms of exam prep. Please suggest. Your answers are highly appreciated. Thank you Saving Changes...

In general; here is what I would recommend for the PMP exam:
1) Read through the ECO, PMBOK 6th Edition (Including the Agile Extension as lots of questions are Agile / Hybrid based) and then read the PMBOK 7th edition (it is a small book).
2) Go through Rita Mulchay’s Exam Prep book, I think its 10th edition now, not sure so double check. This is one of the best resources for exam preparation.
3) After you are done, purchase the Simulator Package through PM Prep Cast and practice as much as you can. This is a great simulator and resource for questions that mimic the real exam.
4) If you want a course to fulfill your 35 Hours then check Joseph Phillips on Udemy. He is a PMI ATP and great instructor.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Thank you so much for the reply. I do have Rita's book, and bought Phillip course as well. I will go over these and then will buy the simulator.
What are your thoughts about buying Andrew Ramdayal's course. I have seen very good reviews about him. Is it beneficial to buy his course or Phillip should be enough. Please suggest.
and thank you so much again for the feedback
Much Regards
Pooja

Hi Pooja, Rami's recommendations are excellent! I took the Joseph Phillips course and it was very valuable and had lots of great resources. I would go through the course piece by piece, and bookmark any topics that you're not sure about to revisit and focus your studying on. I also suggest using PMI's "Study Buddy" tool - it gives you lots of mini practice exams and access to a number of full length practice exams (based on the paid subscription you select) - it gives helpful rationale for the question answers, provides detailed metrics on your progress and strengths/areas for improvement, and you can clear your answers to retake the tests as many times as you need. It also gives you a credit to take a shortened mock exam through the PearsonVue platform, which I haven't done yet but I think it's a great resource!
I would say your priorities should be to figure out the areas you need to improve and focus your studies there, and take as many mock exams as possible - Rami recommended this to me and it's been very helpful.
All the best!

I don't know Andrew Ramdayal. I am only familiar with Joseph's and I know his courses are good. Whether it is beneficial or not, I would say it is but it remains up to you. You can do your due diligence and decide!

Before investing any more money, I would suggest making an outline of the process groups, knowledge areas, and the tasks associated with each, then identifying the areas that you need to focus mroe of your studying on. Revisit those sections of the courses and materials you already have. And again, take practice exams. I would suggest the PMI Study Buddy tool to take lots of practice exams and get feedback/metrics on the content you need to study more. Also, taking the practice exam will help you understand the process in thinking to answer the questions correctly - being able to define terms is only part of what you need to know for the exam. Keep at it, a little bit each day, and track your progress a month from now compared to today.
