You can just re-open the application. You should have this option since you haven’t taken the exam at all. If you don’t have this option then contact customer care and they will assist you. Saving Changes...
Do you mean your online application to take the exam OR the process of booking your exam date after your application has been accepted and you have paid?
If it is the former, then you have 90 days to complete the application and if you are past that period, you can start a fresh application.
If it is the latter, then you normally have one year post-acceptance to schedule and write the exam. PMI will not usually give you an extension on that one year period, but as Rami has said, if you have some extenuating circumstances you could contact customer care to see if they will make an exception. If not, then you would need to go through the full application & payment process again.

For some reason, I think PMI did change their system a bit because I recently filled my application for PMI-CP and it stayed there for more than 3 months and then it was closed but I had the option to re-open it and continue from where I left it.
It might be only for the PMI-CP because it is a new credential, no idea.

I had a similar situation with the DASM but fortunately I caught it with 1 day to go and hastily took the exam. I definitely think it's their system.
