Dear All,

I am wondering how can I become a authorized tutor for PMP training ?
Do I need to have PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® Certification to become a tutor for PMP exam ?
Is it mandatory to run an authorized training Centre ?
I would appreciate your kind assistance. Thanks

Below is the response I got from ChatGPT for your query.

To become a PMI-Authorized Instructor or Tutor to coach for the Project Management Professional (PMP) examination, you need to follow these steps:

Meet the eligibility criteria: You need to have a bachelor's degree, 4,500 hours of project management experience, and 35 hours of project management education to become eligible to take the PMP exam.

Get PMP certified: You need to pass the PMP examination to become a PMP certified professional. This requires a comprehensive understanding of the PMP exam syllabus and study materials.

Meet the PMI-Authorized Instructor requirements: PMI requires that PMI-Authorized Instructors meet certain education and experience requirements. You need to have a minimum of five years of experience in project management and a minimum of two years of experience in adult education or training.

Attend the PMI-Authorized Instructor training program: PMI offers a PMI-Authorized Instructor training program to prepare individuals for the role of PMI-Authorized Instructor. This program provides training on teaching and coaching methodologies, PMP exam preparation, and PMP exam delivery.

Submit an application: After completing the PMI-Authorized Instructor training program, you need to submit an application to PMI to become a PMI-Authorized Instructor. This application includes a background check and demonstration of your teaching and coaching skills.

Maintain PMI-Authorized Instructor status: To maintain your status as a PMI-Authorized Instructor, you need to complete ongoing professional development activities, such as attending PMI-sponsored training and workshops.

In summary, becoming a PMI-Authorized Instructor or Tutor to coach for the PMP examination requires you to meet the eligibility criteria, get PMP certified, attend the PMI-Authorized Instructor training program, and maintain PMI-Authorized Instructor status through ongoing professional development.

It goes without saying that above details may be wrong since it is AI generated.

What do you mean by "tutor"? If you mean teaching PMP prep courses then:

1. If you wish to join a PMI Authorized Training Partner, you would go through the brief online adult learning training session and then the ATP would add you to their roster of instructors so long as you hold a current PMP credential

2. If you are planning to teach using some other PMP prep material (e.g. Velociteach), you don't need to go through that.

On the other hand, if all you want to do is tutor individual PMP candidates, nothing is required, but your learners could not claim the time they spend with you as "contact hours" to meet the educational prerequisites for their PMP applications.

Yes - so long as the non-ATP provider's courseware is of a sufficient quality, there should be no issues. I'd like for one which has been producing and delivering such courses for at least five years.

Kiron is right, and I’ve seen many providing such courses of high quality without being ATPs.

Dear Piroshananth
I recommend that you get PMI-ACP certified before applying for ATP in addition to the PMP certification

If you want to be a DA trainer, I recommend that you get certified in DASSM
