I'm a Portfolio Manager, wanting to get certified. I'm not seeing a lot of information on the PfMP.

Has anyone taken the PfMP lately, and if so what materials did you use to study.

Would you recommend PgMP or PfMP for career advancement?

Kimberly, I took the exam in 2019 and my lessons learned/journey are shared in my blog on this platform. Here is the link:

For career advancement, you should chose whatever credential that compliments your career path which in this case, I think PfMP is more appropriate given your current role as a Portfolio Manager.

Hope this helps.

Hey Kimberly! Both the PgMP and the PfMP are a two-step process: first you have to pass a panel review, then you get to try the exam. For study material, I always follow the material suggested in the Exam Content Outline.

As far as recommending either one, it's hard to say. Neither is in much demand by employers. Of course, if you wish to stand out from the pack, it doesn't hurt to have something that says you're a certified portfolio manager. From a career development point of view, you need to ask yourself what are your next opportunities? Personally, I think you would be positioned for a CxO job next.
