Which books or trainings do you recommend on the topics of automotive product development and team development?
I am looking for a book that explains in plain words a practical approach to APQP compliant project execution and planning. It should explain issues like
- sample naming conventions (A,B,C,D samples),
- common WBS templates,
- maybe high-level introduction to common work packages (design work packages, testing work packages, supplier and customer involvement), and
- soft skill issues like stakeholder management and team development.
Thank you in advance for your tips (:
WbR, Torge

As far as the technical organizational aspects, I would recommend familiarizing yourself with the INCOSE standards and the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK).

Automotive development comprises multiple technical domains integrated through Systems Engineering. Aspects like the typical WBS are typically broken down based on the product functional architecture, and the organizational schemes date back to Henry Ford and the Model T.

Different projects may have different lifecycles, but ultimately you need to align your work to the product structure for compatibility with the configuration management systems and processes.
